NEW CREATIVE FEET™ TECHNIQUE

Elastic sewn with a double needle.
This is a beautiful alternative to the standard method of sewing elastic. One of our customers asked about sewing elastic with a double needle and after first saying " I wouldn't" I decided to try it and was impressed

STEP 1
Machine Settings (1/4" elastic)
Foot Pressure:      Tightest Setting (if your machine has
Guide to use:       1/4"
Thread Tension:    2 numbers less than normal
                              (refer to manual)
Stitch Pattern:       Multiple zigzag or zigzag
Stitch Length:       3.0mm or 10 stitches per inch

Foot to Use:         Sequins 'N Ribbon
Needle to Use:      90/14 HS Stretch
Needle Thread to Use: Lingerie
Bobbin Thread to Use: Lingerie

STEP 2
Machine Settings (1/4" elastic)
Foot Pressure:      Tightest Setting (if your machine has
Guide to use:       Does not matter we will not be sliding elastic into guide.
Thread Tension:    2 numbers less than normal
                              (refer to manual)
Stitch Pattern:       Straight
Stitch Length:       4.0mm or 8 stitches per inch

Foot to Use:         Sequins 'N Ribbon
Needle to Use:      4,0 90/14 Stretch double
Needle Thread to Use: Colored thread to match fabric (High quality) preferably strong.
Bobbin Thread to Use: Lingerie

Instructions
If you have the Creative Feet Technical Guide & Workbook, you should turn to the Inlaid beading chapter for 1/4" elastic.

	Measure elastic to fit.
	Mark elastic and fabric in 4 equal sections.
	Attach Sequins 'N Ribbon foot to machine.
	Be sure you have set up machine to the Step 1 instructions above.
	Slide elastic into slot on 1/4" guide and under base of foot.
	Stretch elastic with right-hand to meet the mark on elastic to mark on fabric.
	Do not stretch the fabric/elastic from behind the foot.
	Place your left index finger on the mark and hold tight.
	Sew, stopping as necessary to adjust hands so you do not loose control of fabric.
	Secure elastic ends by shortening your stitch length to "0" and sewing a few stitches in place.
	Set up machine to Step 2 settings listed above.
	Fold elastic under.
	With right side of fabric facing up, place presser foot down on fabric/elastic.
	Stretch elastic/fabric toward you until flat.
	Sew.
	Secure end by sewing forward and back and use lock stitch if you have one.
